coq software package provides proof assistant for higher-order logic (toplevel and compiler), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install coq
coq is installed in your system.
Make ensure the coq package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep coq *
You will get with coq package name, version, architecture and description in a table
